A family of four from Marden have been able to secure their first home, thanks to the Help to Buy scheme.
Earlier this year, Shannon and Jacqui O’Reilly decided it was time to move out of the three-bedroom terrace house they were renting and buy their very own home.
Along with their two children, Tyler (8) and Sahara (6), the couple used the Help to Buy scheme to purchase a four-bedroom home at Jones Homes’ Appledown Grange development, off Howland Road.
Shannon (35) said: “We never thought we would have been able to buy a four-bedroom property as our first home, and without the Help to Buy scheme it just wouldn’t have been realistic.
“The scheme made a huge difference to the type of property we could afford. It meant we didn’t have to settle, and we were able to choose a home which will suit us for years to come.
“We had been searching for quite a while, and originally looking at older properties, but as soon as we found out about Appledown Grange we knew we wanted to live there. Unlike other developments we had seen, it was extremely spacious, so we didn’t have to worry that it would feel overcrowded.
“The house itself is beautiful, and the whole family is really enjoying having their own space, especially the children.
“A huge advantage of buying a new-build home is that you have a sales advisor to help you through the whole process. We had never bought a house before, so having that extra guidance was fantastic.”
Jones Homes is building a range of three, four and five-bedroom properties at Appledown Grange, with prices starting from £389,995.
